Time is a dressmaker specializing

Time is a dressmaker specializing in alterations. – Faith Baldwin

I tend to forget this. I usually think of events, as well as my own initiatives–however deluded I might be–as the source of alterations in my life. Sometimes, it’s just the passage of time, the life cycle. My wife Robbie and I were having breakfast at a restaurant today and were enjoying the wondrous contortions on the face of an unhappy two-year old at the booth across from us. We realized how great it is to be able to enjoy this, since our kids are no longer little. We’re taking on the psyche of a grandparent, even though we might not ever become one. Time is changing me. I hope to hell I can adapt gracefully.
