Labyrinths are booming these days. Carleton College here in Northfield now has two of them, a portable canvas labyrinth in the Skinner Memorial Chapel, and an outdoor one on Stewsie Island.
I walked the one on Stewsie this week, the second time in a few months. I can sort of see the appeal, but I can’t help thinking that they’re really no different than doing a comtemplative walk alone in the woods or a field like I regularly do in the Carleton Arboretum.
