The real parents of

The real parents of our children are the ideas that govern us. – Polly Berrien Berends
Polly goes on to write: Most [ideas] are notions from the past about who we are and what is important in life. We are not aware of most of these ideas or that they are troublesome and mistaken… These same ideas become parents of the children.
Two of my sons are returning from NYC this week. So all six of us will be getting together for Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday. I wonder how my dad’s slow dying will affect all of us… and what they’ll learn from me?
