This Wired news story from last month describes how “seniors in the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease, with mild to moderate memory loss, are writing Web logs to help them make sense of their daily lives. And the activity, they say, is slowing the onset of their symptoms.”
It’s an interesting parallel to the Nun Study which found that a stimulating intellectual life, especially positive emotional content expressed in the nuns’ journal writing while in their twenties, seemed to be a significant factor in the prevention of Alzheimer’s.
So pick up the habit of blogging or journaling now, if for no other reason than an alert organ between your ears when you’re a geezer will increase your odds of an alert organ between your legs.
