I watched 9/11 on CBS last night. French filmmakers Jules and Gedeon Naudet were in New York City creating a documentary on firefighters when the attacks occurred. Grippingly brutal — the sound of bodies hitting the pavement, cannon-shot loud, startling the firefighters repeatedly — but no visual gore.
The Naudets focused much of the time on the familial comaraderie among the firefighters before and after 9/11. But the connection between the two brothers was as compelling, as they got separated that day and each thought the other was dead. I wonder if they’ll figure out how to maintain the depth of what they now have between them. It made me envious.
