Walking through the woods or fields helps to get this through my thick skull. This ground, that river, that hill all were here long before me and they’ll likely be here long after I die. They’re part of the hum of the universe, just like me and these weeds and trees and birds. It makes me feel small in a good way. I’m part of something that endures.
