I rented a Sportster to

I rented a Sportster to ride today. It doesn’t have a windshield so it was a bit nippy coming home yesterday afternoon once the sun went down. I’m piling on the layers this morning though it’s warmer than I thought it would be — 40 degrees. Still, we’ll live up to our name, the first annual Freeze-Your-Buns Fall Motorcycle Run.
I’m really looking forward to this. I’ll take a few pictures and post them later this week but I won’t do any blogging from the road, as we won’t have enough time. I think we’ll head over to Lake Pepin, about an hour or so from here in Northfield. Very scenic there and back, lots of twisty roads, and many good places to stop and eat. Plus, it’s got history for me. My grandfather froze to death on the shore of Lake Pepin 61 years ago this week in the great Armistice Day Blizzard of 1940. I wonder if my dad’s going to die this week. My mom called late last night and said he had an unexpected seizure and was placed in intensive care. I’ll stop by the hospital after I return the Harley.
