When we are not sure, we are alive. – Graham Greene
This initially made me think of Male Answer Syndrome, an affliction best characterized by Cliff Claven on Cheers and our current crop of presidential candidates. I have it, too. But as I write about it, Greene’s quote is more about life’s uncertainties.
A few biggies in my life are uncertain right now. Will my wife’s brain tumor shrink and die? What will be the outcomes of my dad’s and sister’s hospitalizations? Will Real Joe Inc. make it as a business?
I guess I don’t have to know or even worry. I do know I have to get better at seeing how uncertainty can be cool. So I’ll just work at staying alert, be willing to learn from whatever life puts in front of me, and rely on wisdom outside my ego-laden brain to guide me to the next step.
