Joy is not in things. It is in us. – Ben Franklin
Joy in looking and comprehending is nature’s most beautiful gift. – Albert Einstein
Yesterday, was one of those perfect days. In the morning, I journaled and then chatted with Paul at the coffeehouse, walked in the Arb, ate a leisurely breakfast on the porch, and then took a short nap. In the afternoon, we did house projects together, and then I played a couple games of racquetball. In the evening, we grilled and ate dinner on the porch, and then watched To Kill a Mockingbird on video. The weather was warm and dry. And Robbie and I were affectionate all day long. I kept savoring my situation throughout the day, not just here and there. It seemed to draw out the experience, made it last longer.
So I’m about to see if I can repeat the quality of my day yesterday again today, Labor Day, the last day of summer.
