God’s inhumanity to man makes countless thousands mourn. – Mark Twain
An article in the paper quoted a woman whose home was destroyed by the floods in 1997: “We’ve been through four years of hell, and part of me doesn’t want to let my guard down. I don’t want to go through this again. I guess I’m a little on the numb side, but I’m very confident we’ll be OK. Call it blind faith, but you just don’t think somebody can be that mean to you again.” She and husband rebuilt their house in the same spot but put it up on blocks this time.
She doesn’t believe that God can be that mean to her again? Oy.
A friend sent me a link to Mark Twain’s The War Prayer. It’s a beauty. Hmmm, maybe I should put on my Twain hat and write The Natural Disaster Prayer.
