Each day of our lives

Each day of our lives we make deposits in the memory banks of our children. – Charles R. Swindoll

I didn’t want to go to the family/staff gathering at my daughter’s school tonight. I had a million things to do, including my weekly racquetball league and writing this Joe to Go. But I went and now I’m glad I did. The meeting was ho-hum, but my 15 yr-old daughter surprised me. We broke up into small groups for brainstorming and she volunteered to present her table’s report to the whole group. We later switched tables and she ended up at mine, taking charge of the prioritization process, and problem-solving right along with the adults. I could say she blossomed before my eyes but she’s probably been blossoming all along lately and I only just tonight noticed it. When we got home, I told her what I noticed and that I thought she had a knack for it. She smiled, said thanks, blew me a kiss, and went to bed.

So maybe we made a deposit in her memory bank by our participation in this meeting. Tonight, however, it was the reverse.
