I listened to the whole

I listened to the whole Satellite Sisters radio show this afternoon, followed by This American Life.

When Real Joe gets on the air (I’ve been challenged by my Inner Circle group to quit saying ‘if’), then it could very likely fall somewhere in this Saturday afternoon time-slot on public radio. I was told by one of my radio advisors (yep, I now have two) that the show could be the perfect complement to the Sisters which just began airing in the Twin Cities area last week.

It would be quite a contrast, but a good one, I think. Sisters is a fun show. It’s very chatty, lots of laughing and some talking over one another .. much like brothers Tom and Ray Magliozzi in Car Talk. The producers do a good job to make sure you know which of the five women are participating in any one segment. At least in today’s show, there were never more than three at a time. The whole show was upbeat and light. Last week’s segment had an interview with a woman who’s husband was killed recently and it was a somewhat intense segment. But today’s show had nothing like that. The most serious was an interview with a nutritionist guy.

I’m thinking that a Real Joe radio show should have a couple of serious/poignant pieces each time. And I’d prefer to have the humor be wry than raucus. But what the hell do I know about radio. Oh, well, it’s fun to think about.
