We were to have a memorial Mass for my dad St. Peter’s church in Mendota this morning, then a small family gathering at my mom’s house. But the highways were gridlocked from the snowstorm and we had to call the whole thing off while we were driving up. But my mood on heavy snows days is always buoyant and today was no exception. My daughter and I decided to meet up with my sons for breakfast, just for the hell of it. But when we got to the restaurant, I got a call from Robbie, who lost control of her car and ended up in ditch in remote spot.

I was disappointed to not be able to meet with my four kids after driving all the way to the cities in a whiteout, but I remember a few years ago when I ‘blew it’ by not driving to where Robbie was stranded, so I didn’t hesitate. Off we went to find her, but she got pulled out by a tow truck by the time we got there. Dang! I wanted to get there first and be a hero. 😉 But I was glad she made it home safely without me, and my mood, due to the wonderous snowfall, remained upbeat the whole time.
